Role Played by Chemical Sciences in Making India Self-Dependent

Brief Description of Webinar:

In Pacific Basic and Applied Sciences College (Department of Chemistry), PAHER University conducted a webinar on Role Played by Chemical Sciences in Making India Self-Dependent on 18 June 2020. In this webinar, approx 550 participants registered and 221 participants attended the session. In the beginning of this session Dr. Neetu Shorgar, Head, Department of Chemsitry, welcomed to the speakers and participants. Prof. Rameshwar Ameta, Dean, Faculty of Science introduced the speakers. The key note speaker of this session was Prof. Ranjit Kumar Verma, Vice Chancellor, Munger University, Bihar.

Professor Ranjit K. Verma {M.Sc., Ph.D., F.I.C., F.I.S.C.(India), F.R.S.C.(London)}, the Founding Vice Chancellor of Munger University (2018-) is a former Pro-VC of Patna University, Patna (2014-17) and is on lien from the University Department of Chemistry, Magadh University. He has been on several panels for suggesting academic and administrative reforms. A member of the Advisory Committee of the Governor of Bihar, Prof Verma is among those internationally acclaimed scientists, who are working in the field of Thermal Analysis. Presently, he is Co-Chairman of the Scientific Commission of the International Confederation for Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry (www.ictac.org) and figures in the prestigious global list of top 350 Thermal Scientists. He has co-authored text books for NCERT and NSDL-CSIR and, was the paper coordinator (Paper-XI) for the development of interactive e-text books for M.Sc. (Chemistry) students/teachers under the e-PG Pathshala project of the Govt. of India. He received ‘Best PG Chemistry Teacher Award, 2018’ in State University Category in India from ACT (HBCSE-TIFR, Mumbai) during National Convention at R.I.E., Ajmer and ISCAS Gold Medal-2018 from the Indian Society of Solid State Chemistry and Allied Sciences, Jammu during its 2019 Nagpur Conference. A popular speaker at Conferences, Seminars, Symposia and Refresher Courses/Workshops in India and abroad, he is a globally travelled academician. He addressed session in very interactive manner. After this session students asked various queries related to theme of the webinar. Dr. Bhavesh Patel had his Master’s degree in Biochemistry from the Biochemistry Department of the MS University of Baroda and Ph.D in Bioanalytical Chemistry form Pacific University, Udaipur. He has 20 plus years of industry experience in the Bioanalytical area. Dr. Patel has been involved with the installation of the initial liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry instruments in the country in an industrial setting. He leads Department of Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics which includes bioanalytical method development, GLP compliant validation, preclinical and clinical sample analysis of small molecules and biologicals, formulation analysis for GLP toxicology studies, as well as the in vitro & in vivo sections of Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics at Eurofins Advinus. Dr. Bhavesh solved all queries of students. E-Certificates were given to all participants. The words of blessing were given by Prof. Suresh C. Ameta, followed by concluding remarks by Prof. Hemant Kothari. Feedback given by all participants was appreciable. The session ended with vote of thanks by Dr. Gajendra Purohit, Director, PCBAS, PAHER University.
